Missouri Rice Research & Merchandising Council Annual Field Day

Join the Missouri Rice Council for their Annual Rice Field Day on Tuesday, August 23 at the Missouri Rice Research Farm.

Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and tours begin at 8:30 a.m. Research personnel and experts will be on hand to provide area farmers a chance to see and learn about recent developments in rice research. The Field Day will conclude with a noon luncheon catered by Tasteful Creations. The lunch program will include Senator Jason Bean (R-25) and Davin Althoff, Missouri Farm Bureau Director of Marketing and Commodities.

Morning Speakers include:

  • Nick Bateman & Chase Floyd: The Importance of Insecticide Seed Treatments & the Future of Rice Stink Bug Control
  • Jim Heiser: Potential for Brake (Fluridone) in Furrow-Irrigated Rice
  • Justin Calhoun: Effect of Row Spacing of Furrow-Irrigated Rice
  • Justin Chlapecka: Cultivar Selection, Planting Date, & Other Agronomic Decisions
  • Michael Aide: Water, Irrigation, & Rice
